Luxury in Fashion Reconsidered

April 11 ― May 24, 2009

National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan

This exhibition was held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Kyoto Costume Institute. There were four sections, one of which focused on the theme “Less is More,” in which the Kyoto Costume Institute displayed examples of Miyake’s “Moonlight Pleats” (1989) from among its own collection, while the foundation augmented these with a number of original items from the same collection in order to illustrate wearable designs from a number of patterns.
