This exhibition was set up to illustrate the history of design from the Great Exhibition in London in 1851 to the present day, with each era represented by a particular city. The late-1980s focused on Tokyo, and the foundation responded to a request to exhibit some basic items from PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE.
